-AMPEG MICRO VR- Best amp ever, or what?

So I went out and bought the rig yesterday. The head sounds just great. The fan is a bit noisy, but otherwise this thing really cranks for being only 200 watts at 4 ohms. Through my Acme Low B2 I have to cut low end as its pretty thunderous. Very impressed with the head. The combo together with the cabinet is a nice setup, and sounds very close to an SVT rig. I am not totally sold on the cab yet, but its size/weight is unbeatable. Going to probably gig it tonight and see how it works out...

It is almost the opposite tonally. More mid range and high end with a tight somewhat attenuated bottom. The Acme is massive low end with a softer high end. The Micro VR does sound very good through both though. I was just surprised at how much volume I get through the Acme. It is easily enough to play a rock gig with.

From what I have learned if you have a very good tone, you don't need a TON of volume to be heard in the mix. How many of us have gigged with the old GK 400RB heads without any problems. I agree though that once you get a screaming Twin or a Marshall stack happening you need a bit more horsepower to be present. I guess the situations I play in we play at more comfortable volume levels. I still think the Ampeg Micro VR/Acme Low B2 kills(mine is 4 ohm).

forgot to mention that if you use the DI, YOU MUST USE THE -15bB PAD. Otherwise, it will be "too hot" as mentioned

Hi I have a gig coming up where they may not mic it. I was planning on going out of the XLR LINE OUT JACK of the micro-vr. Will this send the sound guy a good signal or should I use the -15bB pad? Or has anyone just sent out through the xlr and it sounds ok?

Thanks!
