Ampeg Micro VR vs B100R

As a followup on another thread, maybe some of you could give me some advice.

Looking for:
- small practice amp/combo
- studio 'worthy', recording well
- on a budget

I can buy the Micro VR at the same price as the B100R but its impossible to test the B100R...

Anyone care to share their thoughts?

I have the B200R and love it. The B100 has the same great tone, less horsepower, but more reliable in terms of quality control. The 200s had chronic rattle problems, but not the 100s. Nothing but good reports on these. (I took a chance on a 200 and lucked out.)

For what you want, the B100R is a great amp. I have one and love it. Amazing tone and looks. Great for recording, practice, and even giging, so long as you don't play metal!

Can't say enough good about the B-100R. It's only 100watts, but its driving a 4ohm speaker. It's more than enough juice for the oldies band I gig with, and the tone is 90% close to my '63 B15N. In some ways I like it more because it is a bit more versatile and has more EQ options than my '63, but in the end they are both great amps.

I had a chance to try out a Micro VR with the matching 210 and I was surprised I liked it. It doesnt have the same '60's mojo as the B-100R, but then again that isn't what its trying to do. I was able to dial it in pretty deep consider it was running 10's and I liked what I heard. Tonally, it reminded me of my Gibson THOR amp - very clean but very warm.

Both are good amps - just depends on what kind of "vintage" vibe you want to go with!
