ampeg pf 500 with gallien 212 mbe 4 ohm anybody?

Hello I'm going to buy a pf500 but I think it might not be loud enought for rock with just one pf cab. dont want to carry 2 pf cabs (btw pf cabs are not very light, they should use neos but dont know why they use ceramic)

anybody has try a pf500 with a gallien mbe212 cab in 4 ohm? will it handle the pf peaks?

the other option is getting a barefaced cab but they are very expensive and my main rig is a vr + 610 ampeg so I dont want to spend a lot of money this time and get a nice sound for the bucks. the Idea is to have a small powerfull ampeg rig for small clubs where I dont want to carry the fridge and the bulbs box.

If they used neos, they wouldn't be $400 new. Anyway, don't expect miracle-like performance with a 212 compared to a 210 or 115. You can usually get a little more juice into a 212 and a little more air movement out of them. It's not going to be a huge amount but it'll work as long as you're not giving the cab more juice than it can handle.

Are you dead set on the pf? If you are playing loud you may run into problems with it cutting out regardless of the cab,

yeah, that cutting out issues suck but im linked to the ampeg sound. I have try the gk, too clear and without soul, then I tried the new ebs reidmar, loud but it distorts easily and dont like ss overdrive at all also bass freq sounded a bit weird to me.

I guess that one the ampeg sound is in your head theres nothing else because you compared the sound and it can sound good but only ampeg sounds like ampeg, you know.

I thought that using a 212 at 4 ohm will move much air because of 24" total surface and also the amp will send 500W instead of 350, maybe I'm wrong with that...

I've had the PF500 for over a year and never had a cut-out issue, sounds like Ampeg and a great bang for the buck with a ton of features. IMO, you're not going to get some magical spike in volume going from a 210 to a 212 as the issue is cab design, sensitivity, ported/non-ported, etc...

For me, my PF210HE won't cut it for anything larger than small gigs and lower volume medium gigs. Not a knock on the cab as it sounds fine but bigger gigs is asking too much of it without PA support. I'd also 2nd some suggestions on sticking to an 8ohm cab as the volume gain would be barely noticable using a 4ohm cab and pushing the PF500's full wattage. more speakers = more volume.

So You will go with the pf500 and a 210 or 115 of cab instead of a 212 at 4ohm? Well I would have to try that... I wish they made the 410 pf with neos and flip top an 4ohm, that would be perfect. I'm also looking for a barefaced 212 wich is 102dbs and 4 ohm. That cab must be louder than the 210pf for sure.

Is there not a huge volume gap between a 4 ohm 212 and an 8 ohm 210 or 115?

It's a 15 of their own design made by Eminence China. Porting may work out for it...there's a thread on here about a guy who installed ports in his and liked it quite well. But for me, the PF115he already goes so low that I wouldn't want to make it go even lower.
