Double Bass Favorite Paul Chambers Recording?

I have gone back to my freshmen year of college playlist when I was trying to learn how to walk bass lines, and have been on a two day Paul chambers binge. The recordings I have been digging from him are:

Leeway by Lee Morgan
Relaxin by Miles Davis
And Can't see for lookin by Red Garland.

Wondering what records you guys go to for some PC action.

"Bass On Top" is my favorite. A small group setting where PC takes the spotlight, as the title implies. I also like Hank Mobley's "Soul Station" a lot. Although there are only a few bass solos, the rhythm section with PC, Wynton Kelly and Art Blakey is outstanding.

Big thumbs up for your and Ed's picks, especially Bass On Top. Excluding those, my P.C. list is -
Miles Davis at Carnegie Hall
The Blackhawk stuff
Paul Chambers Quintet (Blue Note)
Wes Montgomery, Smokin at the Half Note and Full House
Sonny Clark Trio

I could go on for a lot longer but these come to mind first

I knew someone would mention "Kind Of Blue" and while I agree that it's a great and important album, I've always thought PC's playing on this session was very subdued. His bass is also under-recorded, even on "So What" where he's given the main theme to play.

I heard an isolated track of, IIRC, All Blues, before it got pulled from YT, it was an incredible experience. There was a lot of stuff going on that is buried in the mix, it was pretty eye-opening how subtle and complex his playing on that album was.

I was just listening to PC's solo on Straight No Chaser on the Miles Newport '58 recording. Badass. I need to take that off.

Also, the recording of All Blues at the Stockholm 1960 tour. He does some things comping on that version that I haven't heard him do elsewhere. ...kind of a rhythmic, turning-the-beat-around fakeout figure a couple of times.

I 2nd that emotion for LeeWay. To these ears, PC’s got some extra bounce for that session.

I agree,I did the same with Freddie Freeloader and it was an eye opener. His choices and lines are superb, maybe masked a little by the mix and reverb.
