You are right. After having issues with two of their cheapest amps available, you should swear off the whole brand. I don't suppose you have a warranty do you?

Electronics fail. It doesn't matter how much something cost or where it was made. We all know that. It comes down to warranty and service. As long as Ampeg takes care of you when there is a problem, then you're all set.

I agree somewhat with that. However as a player you also have to have faith that your amp will get you through a gig. After a failure and warranty repair some player's will always have that "will it fail again" thought in the back of their mind.

I've been through that before and it's always a possibility. I sold the amp and moved on. That said, my PF500 was trouble free in the year I owned it.

I wonder how much of this is caused by ROHS non-lead soldering failures and short-circuits.

Thanks. I'm using SVT 210AV at home and with one of the bands. At the moment I'm borrowing a fellow players Peavey 4x10 + 1x15 with the louder band I'm playing with. Both sound just fine. I planning to buy PF210 + PF115 later on. I'm happy I bought the PF350.

Were you using those Peavey 4x10 + 115 cabinets when the problems occurred?
Each cab is rated 8-ohms?
Does the problem go away when you use just one of those cabs?

That's why you always have 2 identical amps to get you through a gig. If they both fail in one night, then it's time to start swearing and find a new company.

Or you just buy one used 80s Peavey and rock on since you will die before it does.

Which I would do if I didn't love the sound I get from my pf500.

True. However, it seems electronics of some manufacturers fail faster/more often than others. No matter how nicely you try to put it, Ampeg has some serious quality problems. I hope they will fix the problems soon.

I know I'm going to jinx it one of these times, but I'm still rocking my PF500 and PF115s that I got when they launched... Just sayin'.
