Ampeg - PF410HLF cab for a PF20T

Hi all,

I have a PF20T currently hooked up to a PF115LF. I'm a guitar player mainly, but I bought this rig for recording bass primarily and up until recently, it didn't get used outside of the home.

Just recently, I've joined a new band playing bass and I've come across a PF410HLF at a really good price, and so I'm tempted to add this to the setup. Note - I dont necessarily need to go louder. The PF20T and PF115LF combo is keeping up (at rehearsals anyway - We havent played live yet).

Question is - will a PF20T (20 valve watts) be an okay pairing with the PF410 which is rated at 800 watts. Or is it too much cab for such a low wattage amp?

The amp only cares that it sees the expected load: either 4 or 8 ohms. The PF410HLF is an 8 ohms, so it's a perfect match. The PF410HLF has a slightly higher sensitivity rating than the PF115LF, but it's not really enough to notice. I suspect the tone will be noticeably different though.

I have a PF50T and normally play it through a pair of Genz Benz 1288T Uber Quads. It's not very loud (IMHBO) but it sounds great. Neither the amp nor the cabs care.

PF20T owner here.

The pairing will work ok.

IMHO, your current cab is better match for your amp.

Ooops, I thought you were considering SVT410HLF, not PF410HLF. My fault.

It would make a good pairing.
