Ampeg portaflex

hi,

im looking to buy the Ampeg Portaflex PF-350 Bass Head which runs 350w @ 4ohms, along with the Ampeg PF-115LF bass cab which runs 400W RMS power handling @ 8 ohms

iv tried to get my head around the difference between 4ohms and 8ohms, but dont really understand it all....

i just want to know how much power i will be getting out of this head and cab combo??

anyone who can help me out would be greatly appreciated.

cheers.

Each PF cab is 8 ohms. At 8 ohms, the PF350 puts out 250w into the cab. If you get two cabs, they will combine for 4 ohms, and the PF350 will put up to 350w into both cabs split evenly (175w per cab).

you may be able to direct me in the right direction, as you can probably tell, i havent got a clue about bass amps....
im in a band that play an indie/britpop sound,
im currently playing through an old laney 160w combo which has seen better days, so im looking to buy a new set up...
iv got a bugget of £500-£600
we'r playing venues that range from capacities off 400 to outside festival stages.
what do you recomend i go for??

Just ordered a pf350 today from guitar center got it for $250.00 I thought that was a good price, going to be running it with an ashdown 210 cab it's a replacement for my gk bl600 the gk head has been dependable but not the tone I've been searching for so went ahead and ordered the pf 350 now it's just a wait until its delivered

so the the combination of the two will put out 250w??
have you had any experience with this amp, and do you rate them?
No, using a single PF115lf will put up to 250w worth of power into the cab. Using two cabs will make a 4 ohm load and split the 350w so each cab gets up to 175w.

And I don't have the PF115lf and never plugged into one, but I've had the PF350 for a year and a half now, and it's a great little Ampeg sounding head.
