Ampeg practice amp

The Ampeg micro CL sound more SVT dirt than Micro VR.

If you dont mind other brand than Ampeg, give a look to Tech21 VT200 bass combo. I own one and she able set the tone close to SVT voice.

Hey all,
Last thoughts for the end of the year!

Which Ampeg would be a good practice amp. One that would be a good sounding ( I.E that classic SVT tone) amp.
Something that would be “house friendly”

Thanks in advance!

Phil
Either micro stack. The vr is much nicer though. Di out, and expandable. But, both sound great.

YOu could also take a different approach. Instead of a combo, get one of the SVT/Ampeg tone stack pres/pedals, a speaker, and a power amp if needed. Or just get the pre and possibly use it to feed your computer or headphones.
I'm interested in doing this, but all the power amps I've found are quite expensive (the only brand I know of is Crown). Do you know of any others that would be worth looking at up to say 300watts?

I’ve had an Ampeg BA108 amp for about 10 years and it’s been a great little amp for home practice, and small jazz gigs where the band was given almost zero space to set up. With a Tech 21 SansAmp its louder and sounds much better, especially with the SVT setting dialed in. I picked up the BA108 after foolishly selling a beloved Polytone MiniTeeny Brute to a jazz guitarist, who two months later had it on Craigslist for $50 less than he paid for it; foolish pride wouldn't allow me buy it back, which I now regret.

I have the BA110 V2 40w 10” speaker

For home use it’s superb and surprisingly loud too !

Added bonus you can connect your iPad / phone in the Aux In and then mix your bass with the Aux in sound for jamming etc.

Scrambler is ok if used in moderation

I did have the new Rumble 40 combo but from new it died after two days ( flashing led fault ) and it went back and I got the Ampeg

Nice sounding and in the U.K. lower priced than Fender

I really dig my 108. Sits behind my desk, is a great practice amp. Quite different from Rumble 40 (10") or Acoustic b100 (15"). The 108 while lacking in displacement has great clarity and brings out subtle nuances while practicing at low levels.

I have the BA110v2 and love it. It's great for practice, recording, rehearsals and even low key gigs. I'm fussy and have no complaints about this amp.

Oh I second this.

I just picked up this amp used and so far I absolutely love it.
The sound was much bigger than I anticipated, especially considering it's only a 40W amp. It handles the low B string easily and all my 3 basses sound great through it.
