Ampeg - Should I get this??? Tips

More like a nightmare for my back! Hope he has a couple of roadies!

There's no "back" effort when wheeling around a 2x15 (same fridge size as the 810). That's why it has tilt back wheels, handle and skid rails. I'd much rather slide one out of the truck/trailer and wheel it on in than to have to dead lift an individual 410/1x15/etc... cab.

I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone that responded to this.

To the TalkBass Police, thank you very much. Your information saved my life. I don't know where I'd be without you...

For those who responded with all kinds of information/opinions/experience, I truly thank you a great deal.

I got more out of these responses than I even had in mind when I posted. It'll help a lot w/ price, whether I really want it, etc, etc. Excellent stuff for just checking out some background before I do or do not do this.

Until next time.

So the guy asks how much something is worth. Who cares. Let's not get the Talk Bass Police involved. Jeesh. And if your CL or Ebay business is separate from here, then don't respond.

Anyway..

I saw a 2x15 in my local Guitar Center a few years ago, and the manager of my practice space recently bought one. The one I saw at GC was around $350, and it was in mint condition. I'm pissed I didn't pick it up. It sounded amazing. And I'm not a 15 kind of guy. I'd say see if you can bargain with the guy. If not, you've still got the 8x10. All I can say is from the 2 I've heard, they're pretty nice. But I do agree, it's overkill.

And if your 8x10 is getting muddy, maybe cut your lows a little bit. I've never had an 8x10 sound muddy, unless the lows are CRANKED.

I see you don't have a supporting membership either, glad you could come to his rescue....:ninja:

if it's an 810e from 2000-2005, i can see it being muddy since the 810e's from that era don't have near as much high end and a deeper low end. if it's an 810e from any other era, though, i would recommend a hearing check ;)
