Ampeg SVT-15e, cabinet, SLM era

I'm looking at buying an SVT-15e second hand locally. It was made in USA during the SLM years. Are these cabinets decent quality? I thought I read somewhere that those cabs were OSB or chipboard not plywood. Is that true?
