Ampeg SVT-200T Power?

Hey All,

I'm new to the site, so go easy on me.

I just acquired an Ampeg SVT-200T from a friend. He said that sometimes it would turn on, and sometimes it would not. I just plugged it in and it will not turn on..... no red light, no speaker pop, no anything. Any advice? Fuse?

Any help is awesome -

Take it in to an amp tech. Always the right thing to do when you're inexpirienced with them, and they can be quite dangerous. And, welcome to TB. I assume the amp was free?, so the cost of getting it up and running safely shouldn't sting too bad.

Yeah, the amp was free.... I was hoping the fix would be close to free as well. I'll have to resort to the local tech if i can't get it up and running myself in the next few days.

Sounds like a bad ground to me, but if your uneasy around electronics take RB's advice
above and have it checked out by a tech.

Spend the money to fix it right. I have one and I love it. Great sounding-tube like. I paid $300 for mine and would do it again. Except for lugging it around, I have no complaints.

I have one also... totally worth it to take it in and get it repaired.
