Anyone with the Redacted ii, do you get a pulsating tone when the gain is set to noon and above?
If the Bass knob is set to noon, and gain set to noon, there's no pulsing noise. But if I turn gain past noon, with bass at noon, then the pulsing noise comes; and vice versa.
Obviously, want to play with Bass boosted.

I'm using the correct 1000mA psu. Using the DI, flipped the switch back and forth. Still pulsing.

Weird thing is that when the gain is set to 9o'clock (where it doesn't pulsate) and I have the fender VI plugged in, it starts to pulsate when I switch on the bass strangle. (I play neck pickup only, didn't notice when all 3 switched on).
I mostly play fender jazz, passive, have two and same pulsating happens with both.

Today I switched everything on, but didn't have a bass plugged in, and it was pulsing with no input. Pulsing stopped when I plugged the bass in, but that's with the gain set at 9 o'clock.
Anyone else getting this pulsing noise?
edit:
The DI goes directly into the mixer, SSLSiX, and never had this issue before with other DIs including the finally V3.
Settings in photo, the bass is usually set to 3 o'clock (full tilt in photo because I was testing).

That's annoying. Dont have that problem though. I do have transformer isolated power for each of the devices in my home recording setup however.

So my Redacted is on it's own isolated power outlet as well as my pedals and IR loader box.

I have had issues with it clipping a bit nastily for the first 10 15 minutes if the mids or treble are boosted heavily, but my bass has TONS of output and eventually it seems to smooth out... I dunno.

Also, if you get a chance try rolling some tubes thru it. It's fun to see what works. I currently have a Mullard cv4024 in v1 and v3 and an Ei longplate 12ax7 in v2. So far this is my favorite lineup, but I have a GE 5751 I'm looking to pop into v1 to try out.

It's a really phat and tubey sound to be sure , and has more gain then I'll likely ever need , hence the Cv4024's.

Good luck troubleshooting!

Also, this all applies to both the DI out and TR out. With the exception, not pulsating when DI is set to DRY. However, pulsing through the TR set to either Dry or Pre.

Thanks. I have a spare tube and I'll try doing a shift of each before I throw the towel in and contact SB HQ again.

Using two "HiFi filtering" power packs in the studio. Guaranteed to work and protect gear for up to $10k. But I don't want to find out if that's true.

Does anyone know the frequency setting points for the underground accelerator and the elementary eq knobs?
Tks

The UA uses a passive, old school Fender style tone stack. The controls are interactive. There are no fixed center points. Flat is mids maxed with bass & treble at zero. Use this online simulator to get a feel for it. Just select fender 3 band and mess wit the sliders. For Elementary select HiWatt. Note Elementary is never flat. I love the glassier top I can get with Elementary and the beefier bottom of the UA. With these you cannot actively boost mids, so I always have an active mid control elsewhere in my chain, either on the head or with an active bass. The passive, interactive nature of these systems makes them non-intuitive, especially for people used to simpler, modern, active eq, but in all aspects of life, real knowledge is power, and with a little, these pedals are gems.

Had some fun "tinkering" yesterday!

Shoutout to Nathan at SushiBox - you rock, dude! (he performed successful surgery on my Nobelium this past week)

To add to @lomo comments the passive tone stacks on various amps contribute significantly to the pleasing nature we hear in those various preamp circuits. While most have the beginnings in Baxandall tone circuit found in so many devices from hi-fi to musical components & amplifiers there are variations that characterize each different topology. Fender, Ampeg, HiWatt and most others use variations in thier classic or vintage designs while more modern amps will often have active circuits that cut, boost and sometimes have tunable frequency bands or curves. When I need to enhance the midrange I like to use an EQ pedal to boost the needed frequencies.

Thanks for the insights. TSC is really cool, would be cool to see other bass amps circuitry like Ampeg

I'm not much of an Ampeg fan, so I'll let someone who really knows chime in, but I think Ampeg passive tone stacks are the James type (another choice on the TSC simulator).

edit...Cochino beat me to it ;)

Question for those in the know.

On the Grand Slampegg, on the xlr out. If it's set to Dry Pass is the signal hitting the tube or a transformer (which I assume is just part of the xlr)?

Does it just bypass the eq and not the whole circuit?

Basically in wondering if this would give me a b15 and a luce (tube di) when bypassed.

I think it's the use of "dry" on the website that's making me think it's not a completely clean/bypassed signal.

Which would be amazing if that was the case

Another redacted II question. With the gain at 10oclock and the treble at one o'clock there is an extraordinary amount of hiss generated by the pedal. The only way to remove it is to drop the gain below 9 o'clock and/or the treble to about 10 o'clock. Dropping the gain like that seems to defeat the purpose of the pedal. Any insights on this? Drives our sound guy nuts to have this much hiss in the system.

Hey everyone! Loving my Finally V3. Question for any tube rollers out there.

Currently I have a Mullard 12au7 in and LOVE the gain at around 2-3 o clock via the XLR … however the 1/4 buffered output gets distorted at that point. Same setting the XLR sounds nice, wooly and thick. I have to turn the gain down to around 12 o clock, to keep the 1/4 from distorting, but I lose some of that tube saturation.

If I put a 12aT7 or a 5751 in, will I get that same nice wooly feeling and sound, but at a lower gain setting? .. and then the 1/4" output won't distort and I can get a nice wooly, saturated tone from it too without distorting ?

FWIW, I run JAN GE 5751s in both my London Underground X and my Underground Accelerator SE. They just seem to have a smoother texture than any 12AX7 I've tried. They're also better behaved in a chain with multiple gain stages.

I haven't tried anything below the 5751's ~70% gain factor (relative to a 12AX7).

My unit has an issue with it. Hence the 1/4" out not having identical sound. My 1/4 out distorts around "N" on the word "GAIN"… on the XLR side I can boost 100% gain and barely hear any tube distortion.

My question was seeking answers on how to fix 1/4".

Thanks though.

I have dozens of tubes. I need to get rid of them haha.
