Ampeg SVT 4-Pro road case?

I've got an SVT-4 Pro, and it's a really great head. I love it. However, I'm looking for a good flight case to transport it in. I'd really prefer not to permanently rack mount it, I'd just like a case that I can put it in for transport, then be able to take it out to use it for practices, gigs, all that stuff. What kind of transport case would you recommend using for this? I'd also not prefer to drop a boatload of cash on something like this, but protecting the gear comes first. Do you have any recommendations for a case that would not require me to permanently mount the amp? Thanks!!

If this is in the wrong place, I'm sorry. I'm new around here.

I think you'd probably have to go custom if you want a flight case, since almost everyone who transports rack mountable heads uses a rack. Check on Ebay for a bunch of flight case makers. There are a lot of them. Maybe someone else has an idea of a case you could use that's already built and not too expensive, but I'm thinking custom is the way to go if you don't want to use a rack. BTW, I'm with you...I don't like racks, either.

I just got a great case for an SVT 4 Pro at racksandmore.com. It is NOT a road case, but a case where you can put a rackmount head in it and then carry it like a normal, wood encased head, with a top handle. It is duratex covered and well worth the cost. I don't much like racks either so this is an awesome option.

OK thanks. I've really not wanted to drop the cash that a custom case would require. If I need to, I'll find a way to drop the cash, but man that's not going to be cheap...

I looked at racksandmore.com, and that looks like a decent option, and I'll surely consider it if I can't find something else, so thanks for mentioning it!

There seem to be a bunch of generic cases available for mixers. Obviously a head and a mixer are very different pieces of equipment, but if the dimensions on a mixer case are right for the head, I'm wondering if that would work. Anyone tried this, or know anything about it? Any advice would be appreciated! :)

Edit: In case anyone in the future is looking back on this, I got an SKB military case with a cubed foam interior. It's worked well, it transports the head well, and I haven't had to mount it.

Hy... I would like to get this thread "back to life" and not to start a new one.

I've purchased an AMpeg Svt4 pro and I'm looking for a RACK!

I'm not planning to have anything in it besides the head (so NO tuner, No compressor, etc etc..).

The 4 unit 19" will be enough or "too much".

Thanks in advance for your kind asnwers.

Oh this thread is for me. I also would like to get a case for my SVT 4 Pro. But I'm not going to rack mount it. The SVT 4 Pro has vents on either side (but not on the back), so if anyone could help me find a case that would be suitable, it would be appreciated. I've had this amp for over four years, but just never got a case for it. Most of the time I keep amp and cabs covered with a sheet when not in use. But I would like some more appropriate protection for the amp in case I get around to playing gigs.
