Ampeg SVT 4 Pro

Whoever sold you a 410HLF and a 115E needs to get fired. A 115E is useless when you have a 410HLF. The HLF goes lower and is a lot louder than the 115E, plus the HLF is 4 ohms and the 115E is 8 ohms, which guarantees that you can't use both cabs in many amps. If you're still in the return period, take the 115E back. If not, take the 115E back and tell the manager that the salesman purposely sold you a mismatched rig with a useless second cab and took advantage of your lack of knowledge. This kind of stuff makes me mad.

wow i feel like an idiot now. i purchased a svt4pro head earlier this year and bought a ampeg bse410 4 ohms and a bse115 8 ohms cabinet off someone from craiglist(got a good deal) I didn't realize the 15 cab was 8 ohms til recently and i've been running it in stereo with low crossover wiring. i had the 410 on channal A and the 115 on channel B using bi-amp low output to channel b poweramp input. atleast i've only had it turned up loud once and haven't gigged with the rig yet.

both the head and cabs were usa made at SLM in Ferguson Mo near where I live.

on the cheap, could i replace the 15" speaker with say this 4 ohm 15"?

and be good ? or just sell the 115? i really like having a full stack.

Two 4 ohm cabs in stereo parallel would give me the 2 ohms per channel for 600x2 on my amp.
One 8 and one 4 are giving me 2.7 rounded up ohms. could this really hurt anything, or it just 'not recommended' by ampeg?

OK Jerrold is the expert but does he own 9 of them?

No he does not!

It is "possible" to run one 410HLF with a 4PRO in mono without smoke if you don't crank it up too high... But is that realistic?

The 610 holds up a bit better in most folks experience that I know of.

The 4PRO seems to work better all around for most folks with a 4 ohm mono load....... YMMV of course. It's probably the loudest and cleanest mode of operation.

So when is the Tiers Amp coming out?:)

First post!
Ive just bought an SVT 4 pro and a 610 HLF and thought I would do a bit of research. Came across this on google.
What would be the best way to set up these together?

Mono Bridge the 4 Pro with the correct cable straight into the 610hlf. Check out the search function on this site and you can learn a lot more. Most of the threads about this head go into great detail about everything you need and should know about that head.

Hi I see a lot of people talking about using a 4x10 and 15". I use a BSE HLF 4x10 and an SVT 18" with my SVT Pro 4.I have the same problem about running it in true biamp mode to get full power. Also would I be able to run these cabs from the mono bridged setting?
Any feed back would be great. Thanks

Blimey im confused lol, i bought a 2nd hand SVT 4 a few years ago and have been running it through a 8x10E cab in bridged mode but with a normal speakon cable. I didnt even know it came with a "special" cable!

Anyway i have somehow managed to blow 5 speakers in the 8x10 and i have been wondering how i have done it... is it down to not having the "special" cable or should i not be running it bridged?? im so confused!

If you are running the amp "Bridged" but with a standard speakon; you are only using half the power it can put out. They switched around some of the connector poles to make it harder to "accidentally" bridge the amp and fry your smaller cabs.

That being said; you should re-examine your EQ settings if you are blowing out speakers in an 810. Going from 490 to 1000+ watts with everything else the same would probably just ruin more speakers. Sounds like you are asking your cab to do things it can't (IE LOTS of bass)

Very informative thread!

I also just bought a used SVT-4 Pro, so I am without the special speakon. Any ideas on where I could go about getting one? (OR is this something I would have to make or have made?) Thanks!

PS- would bridging the amp blow up my SVT 410he?

Ah, this thread is reactivated. JAM, all you need is a 4 pole speakon connector and wire it as I stated earlier in the thread on each ends.

The manual is available for download off the AMPEG site. The HE cab is another 8 ohm cab. The amp puts out low wattage in dual mono or stereo with just one channel into 8 ohms. It will make 900 watts in bridged mode into 8 ohms. You will need to watch how much zoom you put to the cab as I have stated in bridged the amps do put out too much power for 4 speakers.

The 410HE is really half of an 810e and in bridged mode you can blow up an 810 with this amp... So be careful.

Yeah I don't have 9 amps anymore I have ten. I've been trying to sell off the SVT4PRO's as I have gone SVPCL preamp and four SVP1600 amps in my rig. That left me with 6 4PRO's I'm not using.

Thanks, rbonner, I've been researching this for the last two days. I posted this earlier but have moved it here:

From the Ampeg site:

Q14) What kind of speaker cable is required to mono bridge my SVT-IV PRO?
The prefered cable is 12 gauge with Speakon to Speakon connectors. Be sure to wire the Speakon on the "amp" end for +1 (positive) and +2 (negative). On the "cabinet" end wire the Speakon for +1 (positive) and -1 (negative). It is a good idea to label each end so there is no confusion on the gig.

OK, so what about the other two wires? Can you please get real specific about the four wires and if any are doubled up or left unconnected? There's just too much power here to be guessing around.

Right now my SVT 4 connected to the SVT 810E is working with an off the shelf 4 pole Neutrik cable, but this doesn't sound like the right setup.
Also working is a 1/4" to 2 pole Neutrik for my SVP 1600 to Avatar 410 cab. (The 4 pole Neutrik cable didn't work for that).

I'd rather run all Neutriks and get rid of the 1/4" plug, so how do I rewire a 4 pole Neutrik for the 2 pole? Same deal I guess?

Can you please explain this all to me? This has become quite a puzzle the more I get into it. Thanks very much!

I got a SVT 810 and 4PRO but I can not get my hands on a mono bridge cable. All I got is a speakon by GK With 4 cables and all 4 pins working. Yet I can not mono bridge. I do dual mono most the time or stereo with fx... Question, can I use the 4 pin speaking with the 4 wires to mono bridge? also I am wondering if going dual mono would be as powerful as mono bridged because so far my traynor 800h is much more powerful!
Thanks guys!

As for the 410, I suggest getting two of those and running dual mono, one on each side of the stage. Enough low end and great tone! ;):bassist:
