Ampeg SVT-4 Repair or Replace?

I bought this for $300 not working and opened it up to find a missing fuse and what looks like failed repair on the back side of the board. I tried new fuses but still no go. So then what's my best bet, send the board or amp out to be repaired or buy a new board and go from there?

Might be best to have someone diagnose the problem but it depends on how much dough you want to put into it. These things have boards on top of each other and it's a pain to take apart. A tech will most likely charge you an hours worth of work just to take it apart.

A 4-PRO is certainly worth repairing.

Folks who know what they are doing i those amps don't have as much trouble with the assembly. It just depends on the person... some see them regularly, some not.

Specifically here, those fuses seem to be the ones in the low voltage power supply, and the repair should be cheap and pretty easy, assuming the problem doesn't go any further.

Clearly worth taking in, but please take it to someone who has a clue..... we don't know where you are, but there are apparently a bunch of people who can't, or don't want to, repair SS amps except by board replacement.

Thanks again all! I'm in Central California, so anywhere from S.F., Sacramento or down to Fresno would be no problem, I can do L.A. but its about an 6 hr drive. But would be worth it to me, thanks again.

What Jerrold said. Depends on what kind of money you want to throw at it and how lucky you are finding a tech that knows what he's doing with these. These are actually pretty easy to fix (well, after doing as many as I have it's easy), but can be very time consuming, which means mo' money!
