Ampeg SVT II Pro, or an alternative?

Always wanted to see the SVT 3 Pro Preamp hooked into a class D power section as robust as the Quilter BB800. Dino? You still out here on TB? Sorry to the OP.. going off on a tangent here.

All tube SVT's are always worth fixing. You can't have a high performance car without it seeing a mechanic on a regular basis. I would check out Ampeg preamps mixed with a good power amp, as a possible standby.

Still waiting for Ampeg to release a all tube front end on a class D amp.

I would like to see it, but as always, price points have to be considered. It would almost certainly be a hundy or two more than the 7 Pro. And it probably wouldn't be much less than an actual 3 Pro. But it seems that Yamaha is setting out to do some really cool things with Ampeg, so it wouldn't surprise me if they did it just for the prestige of doing it

I’ve always been interested in an SVT pro2, but Iam not so sure I would like it so much more than what I have now, a Mesa Big Block 750 wich I do like. I admit to not caring much for the OD channel of my Mesa but do love the “clean channel” it is a tube amp with class D output. The Mesa is very silent and so is my Zon. In my mind I think that drive knob on the SVT 2 pro is a desirable thing for good slightly overdriven rock tone? I did own a SVT 2 or 3 pre amp driven with a Crown K2 poweramp that sounded very good but did have that hiss. For now Iam happy with my Big Block but would like to do an A-B comparison to an SVT 2 pro. Hard to get those two amps into the same room to do that.
