Ampeg svt2pro or svt8pro?

Thanks for all the help so far guys! How will i know if my 2pro is being "limited" on the limited circuitry?

You'll need to take it to an amp tech and have it checked.

I'm not familiar with it personally, but I've heard that people have gotten good results eliminating the limiting circuit in the 2Pro altogether too.
Poke around on here to get some info on it or track down Psychobassguy and talk to him about it. But try a different head before you worry about paying for a tech visit.

Yea i just came to that conclusion as well. which will suck buying another 2pro but screw it what is a label for when you get on a big one, you ask for a stipend to get what you need! haha, just gotta pay it back in the long run :(

any one know anything about this "limited circuitry"?

does the II pro go down to 2 ohms? if it does thats what you should be running it at.

i play in a similar style band, with a very similar set up (100 watt jmp on my side, dual rec on the other both through orange 4x12s) probably in a lot of the same clubs throughout the states (maybe we've even played together?). i run a mesa 400+ through one ampeg 8x10 and it's loud enough. sometimes, i'll run two 8x10s and run the 400+ at 2 ohms and its killer.

edit - also, after looking at your myspace pictures, if anything you should be asking the label for money to buy a trailer. taking all the gear on the road is awesome, but so is being able to lay down in your own luxurious bench seat.

I run it at 2 ohms when i split the cab, if you run it at 4 ohms into 2x 4 ohm 8x10 you will do some series damage either blowing your transformer or tubes out. The best solution for be is to probably match the cabs with the heads 2 heads + 2 8x10s and have matched impuedence. Because i have running it at 2 ohms it has to worker harder on the power tube output and that takes up all my head room so my tubes are getting pummeled.

Really?

Did you bother to go to their myspace page? The web adress is in his signature.

Here's a video:

I did not, as I'm not on my own computer and so I can't. Stupid assumption of me, if there is only one guitarist and he's using both amps.

If the guitarist is using both a Marshall Plexi and a Mesa Dual Rectifier at the same time, cranked, that's just ridiculous.

Well he uses a plexi and he also has a jcm 800, both heads of which for you to get that great tone you have to have them cranked. since we are a 3 piece to make it sound more full we use to separate guitar heads that are totally different a mesa for more of the gainy bottom and the marshall for the highs and such. if you have ever played on a plexi or anyone who has one then you would know that every one of them are loud very LOUD.

i think bottom line, is something's wrong with your head. there should be no lack of volume with this set up regardless of what your guitarist has "cranked". my band constantly experiments with 70's and 80's marshalls (plexi's, jmps, jcm800s), 2x12's, 4x12s, two stacks of two 4x12s, mesas, soldanos, hiwatts, etc. and my 400+ and one 8x10 has never fallen short.

I agree, it's possible that there may be something wrong with your pro-2. When I had to have my slm era pro-2 fixed, one of the things wrong was volume. Does the gain light illuminate at say only around 11:00 with a somewhat thinner sound than usual?

They fixed that and other issues with re-soldering everything.

actually i keep the master volume up almost all the way and use the gain knob as the volume pretty much, the knob is wierd because it wont actually produce any sound untill its sitting at about 9 o'clock clockwise so about in the 3 position when u r looking at it.
