Ampeg V4 Cabinet

I bought an Ampeg V4 Cabinet over the summer and was hoping someone would be able to shed some light on the specifications of it. All I know is that it runs at 8 ohms.

Does anyone know how many Watts and Amps it is?

Also, one of the speakers (not original) blew. Any suggestions for replacements?

Thanks

The V4 4x12 cab was 8 ohms with standard CTS speakers and handled 120 watts. As far as replacements, there have been a few threads on modifying these cabs for bass. V4 won't work as a search term on the TB section, but if you do a google site search (include "site:www.talkbass.com" in your search terms) you should be able to pull up a few of the threads with member recommendations. Most people have tended to go with some of the eminence neo speakers to save on weight, and there have been several threads discussing the pros and cons of the different eminence neo speakers available as well as other options.

Yeah those are the ones! I use them for bass with either an SVT PRO2 or Ampeg V4 head. Sound great for guitar too!

I picked up a really nice V4 cab but it's loaded with guitar Pyle drivers. I'm torn on whether to upgrade it as a guitar cab (my buddy has 4 Celestion Vintage 30's for me cheap) or as a bass cab. The raves here with both 2512 and 2012's has me tempted, but still looking at almost $600 for 4 neo speakers!

Maybe the Beta II gives an affordable (under $300) middle ground solution and a versatile cab. What would I lose over the Deltalite or Basslite on the bass side?

I don't care as much on the guitar side, but any comparison of the Betas to Celestions would be welcome.

get the interior dimensions and run WinISD for the Beta's to see how they'll work in there. Weight would be the main issue w/o comparing and factoring in the T/S parameters. But you win on price.

For guitar I'm a big fan of the Vintage 30s, those'd work nicely in there
