Ampeg V4B cab help

Hi I’m just about to buy an Ampeg V4B and need some help regarding cab selection.
I was either going to get the matching 212av or, a Barefaced two10 to pair with my one10.
Does anyone have any input into the best route to go? Is the 212av ok for rock gigs, with usually PA support?

Thanks.

I have the matching 212AV cab which fits the head nicely - and also gives you some "height".

I'd love to try the Barefaced 210 cab, but its profile doesn't work for me - I prefer "vertical" cabs which I can hear better.
The 210 would have to be placed horizontally and then - for me at least - elevated.

Either that, or you'd have to come up with a creative way to position the head - especially with the one10.

Yeah positioning might be an issue. I looked at the barefaced four10 but they are pretty expensive for a cab. The 212av would be better price wise, but wasn’t sure if they were loud enough.

The 212AV is a fantastic cabinet. I used one with my 50th Anniversary SVT. The Fridge came out for the larger shows. The 212 would get 90-95% of the way “there” in terms of sound / volume compared to the 8x10.

That will work great for your V4B.

If you can find them used the discontinued SVT112AV cabs are said to work equally well with the V4B, and when stacked they get the sound up a few inches higher and align both 12” woofers vertically, instead of diagonally. FWIW. A used pair could probably be found for about the price of a new 212AV. Some folks like carrying multiple lighter cabs vs one heavier one. I have the 112’s and like them for their modular possibilities. Added side feet and enjoying them stacked vertically lately (not with a V4B! With a V7)

Sold my 610 and went with the 212av for my v4b reissue. Play in a punk rock/power-pop band with two guitars playing 100w Orange amps through 2x12s and its magic in the mix. Can't recommend it highly enough agyer trying MANY cabs with that head in that band.

All of the cabinets above will give you far better definition and frequency response on stage than the original Reverse Folded Horn. Cabinet
that Ampeg built to go with the V4B. They were very difficult to hear onstage up next to the cabinet. Most players used B-25B cabinet in conjunction
with the Reverse Folded Horn.

That was a 76 v4 with the modified circuit to V4B. Which i regretfully sold. Then I ran the 2 cabs through 2 pf 350s one clean, one dirty. I sold them to get a subway W800. But ended up with a PF50T. Got a deal on it i couldn't pass up. So just ran one cab with that. Honestly that got plenty loud.

I have since moved and now have both cabs for sale. $400 each. Both are in absolute mint condition.
