One other point, these cabs project the sound in a non typical way. They are much louder out in the audience than they sound close up on stage.

I've heard this said before, but don't understand how it can work. Once the sound waves leave the cabinet how can they "know" what generated them?

I suppose it’s the force and directionality with which the sound waves are projected from the cabinet.

Not the same but you get the idea. They follow the trajectory owing to how they were launched.

Put it this way I had an Orange 2x15 parabolic bin . On stage I couldnt hear a thing but out in the room ears were bleeding....

I’m part it’s due to the midrange directivity, it has nothing to do with needing the distance for low frequency waves to “develop”.
