ok i have a v4bh head on the way and im debating a few options for cabs . i can pick up a svt810 fairly cheap , i can (and will) build a svt215 copy , or take suggestions on what you have used with YOUR v4b . i need actual useage opinions .....

ampeg v4b(h) ... what cab ????

I use a SVT-410HLF with my V4 a lot, it's loud!! I also use it with a sealed V4 4x12 loaded with Eminence Basslite S2012's, it's loud, but not as loud as the 410HLF, but it is tighter sounding with this cab. That is all I have used a V4 with. I bet it would sound wicked through a 2x15 or 8x10.
When I had a V4B in the '70s, the best speaker setup I found was two cabs each with two fifteens: a B25B and a V6B. I laid them down sideways. This was back when few bands were putting everything through the mains. Prior to that I played for about a year with an SVT cab but that cab was a current sponge -- very inefficient. I wanted to like it, but the V4B just didn't have enough guts to make it do anything meaningful. Just my opinion here, but with only 100 watts -- even "tube watts" (ugh, how I hate that...), the byword is efficiency.
If I were gonna do it all over again, I'd probably go with two Avatar B212 Neos. That'd probably do a pretty good job of pissing off the neighbors.

I'll second that. I use my V4B with a 410HLF and it rocks. Those ampeg 410HLF are amazing. Mine's been to hell and back and keeps on ticking. I've blown many a speaker in other 4x10s but this just laughs at what ever I throw at it. It's not light and it's not pretty, but it does it's job well. I do find it has a very thumpy tone without a ton of definition, but if you're playing with a V4 then that's probably what you're going for anyways.

i have used mine with 410hlf and its loud and sounds great...but i most commonly use it with a 810e...cant really ask for better...sounds great going into my ampeg 215e as well...its hard to go wrong...but i would fore sure use it with an ampeg cab...seems to work better...i have tried mine with some GK stuff and it sounded terrible to me...
I used a variety of cabs with my V4BH, but settled on a pair of cabs, SVT15e and SVT210he. It was a great rig, but I felt under-gunned with it. I believe 2 15's would've been a much better set up, and I'd probably still own it had I done that. Those amps, (all of 'em, V4, V4b, V4BH) are among the best sounding tube amps, ever.
I usually play mine through these cabs: EB MM Audiophile 2x12, EB MM Audiophile 2x10.
Also own: Ampeg SVT 4x10, SVT 1x15.
The V4BH sounds wonderful with all of these cabs, either alone or stacked.

I use several cabs depending on the gig, one I use, is a mid 1990's 8x10 SVT, with the top part loaded with Jensen's Mods ..it makes the crunch much more defined, the second set-up is 2, TL-606 cabinets loaded with the Eminence 3015's, good overall old school sound ... and my latest cab is the Redstar Audio 4x10 ..it's got punchy mids, full lows, but not boomy and the highs are pretty good for a cab that has no tweeter horn ( and I hate tweeter horns ) ... these cabinet combination's, for me at least ,makes 100 watts LOUD!
I got an 8ohm 410HE and was going to get a second matching cab but figured I'd plug into my 8ohm SWR Goliath III 410 until I found another Ampeg cab. I ended up just keeping the Goliath. The two cabinets together sound freakin' perfect. The sealed 410HE give me that mid grind I missed with just the Goliath, but the SWR keeps the bottom end in there as well. A great combination and a surprisingly loud 100 watts.
i just found a semi local york/traynor 115/210 cab for 300 bucks .... now im reconsidering options ....
I cant even decide if i want something super portable like a 1x15 cab, or semi portable like a 2x12 of 410, or not very portable like a 810 or 2x15. (relatively speaking)
I recently scored a V4B. I replaced all the caps, tubes etc. I use it with an SVT810 and recently picked up 2 svt 15's. It sounds fantastic with either combination. My LMII is now my backup. I just love the tone. I have all the power and volume I need. I still don't understand what people are talking about when they say the V4b doesn't get loud enough and I play in a fairly loud band usually w/o PA support, although in small to medium venues.
The other beautiful thing about a V4B head on top of a 410HLF is that it makes a killer guitar rig. Put a boost pedal in front of it to drive the preamp and you've got killer guitar tone. My band used that set up for all the lead tracks on one of our albums, as well as all the pedal steel tracks. Check it out on our myspace if you don't believe! (shameless plus)

the 215 build will start today , ill take pics along the way and start a build thread when i get going . as long as things go right today at work i can build it here and get the shell completed .
