Ampeg V6B head

I bought the V6B head and 215 cab new in '76 and used it for about five years. Didn't have the money for the SVT I wanted. I only had one failure-due to a bad solder joint-in that time. It was an okay rig, but nothing memorable. I felt the eq was quite limited causing me some grief, depending on the room I was playing...the original CTS speakers gave way to a pair of Altec 421Hs...and later, a pair of RatShack 100 watt 15s with the aluminum voice coil covers...that I swear, were the best sounding combination in that cab...I still occasionally trip over the plastic front and back covers for the head that have been out in the yard for the past 25 years...I know...pick 'em up...

Had one around 78. It kept blowing speakers. When it worked, wasn't crazy about the tone. Your mileage may vary...

Replaced it with an SVT; solved everything!

I'm outgrowing my small combo amp and need more power. I have an old Ampeg V6B in my garage that I used to play when I was in a rock band. It's a solid state, 240 watt head. It shuts off after about a minute of use, so it needs repair. I've never seen any of these elsewhere and the SVT seems to be the most popular Ampeg. Is my old V6B worth fixing?

Throw the Ampeg Compressor and Ampeg Pre Amp after your bass. Then plug into the Pre Amp in on the back.
