Ampeg vs. Fender

Hi,

Im eventually going to be in the market for a new amp. dont ask me what i have at the moment...

Really ive set my choices for either an ampeg SVT3 Pro with a 410 cab, or a Fender Bassman 300Pro with 410 cab.

would love to go for an ampeg SVT-AV, but finances wont allow and i would prefer somthing with a graphic EQ.

any other tubed options you can throw my way i will consider, just for reference my bass is an early 80's 4003 rickenbacker.

The Fender is an all tube best that costs around $1400.00

Unless you typed the wrong product, I'd go with the Fender no doubt.

The SVT-CL is also around that price.

I would go with the Ampeg because I like the Ampeg sound more than Fender, but it's a personal preference.

Yeah, I think this concludes that you're going to need to decide on the sound that you're looking for because they're disctinctly different for really about the same price (ballpark). I PERSONALLY LOVE the bassman sound, and don't really care for the Ampeg sound for my style of playing (although I do like the sound of it when I hear it from others).

i like the ampeg better personally. I don't dig the bassman's EQ and controls. just my .02

Completely different animals! The Fender is 300watts all tube, while the Ampeg is just over that, but SS. The fender is much bigger, much louder and much more expensive...

In my mind it's a no brainer, but then again, I own the fender...

If it was all tube vs all tube I would go for the Ampeg, otherwise to my mind all tube must win over solid state. Just an old bass player's prejudice......
