Amplifier Stand

Didn't know if this was the right forum; mods, move if necessary.

I am posting to ask if anybody here uses an amplifier stand on stage. I play through a GK MB115, and I often find myself wishing it were a tilt-back.

Anybody have experience with these? Brand recommendations? Pics?

I'm surprised that with all of these small combos and neo cabs, we don't seem to see these instant-tilt devices. I've found that when the speaker points up at my head instead of out at the audience, I can turn down to the point where I hear my amp as a monitor, and I'm not blasting out the audience.

my favorite.... a guy had rigged up a box that had grill cloth on one side,drawers for mikes,strings,cables etc,on the other ,handles on the sides,and wheels on the bottom....amp stand,storage,dolly all in one and it looked like a generic extension cab....

I use a Markstand folding "wedge" to good effect with the rig in my signature. It copped a little flak amongst a certain cadre of TBers - "why use that when you can throw a lump of 4x2 under it", etc, but it folds down flat and fits in my amp bag enabling me to maintain my one-trip rig for most situations. It's designed to stick to carpeted cabs/combos, but it's perfectly stable with my Duratex-covered cab, and the F1 doesn't slide off even with an approximately 30 degree tilt.

I use an MB115 as my main gigging amp. I always use an amp stand, specifically the [This invalid link has been removed]. It puts the amp a good height so that I can easily access the controls, it is tilted back just slightly so I can hear it well and there is no loss in sound quality to the audience.

one of the TBers had plans and pictures of a stand made from pvp pipe and I made one and painted it black. It works great.Its is light but glued together makes it a bit too big for travel unless you got a van or truck.I suppose only certain joints could be glued so that it could be broken down for travel but in my estimation a pain in the ass

I also play through a GK MB115, and this is the stand I use and recommend:

Lightweight, strong, inexpensive. Been using it for over a year now with no problems whatsoever.

I use this one with a line 6 110 cube which allows me to use it at the same angle as a floor monitor, as I found a lot of other ones didn't angle enough for the sound to be directed towards my head. [This invalid link has been removed]

Sorry to zombify the thread, but I was wondering if anyone could comment on how well these amp stands would hold up to a bigger combo than the OP's GK MB115. I have an Ampeg BA115 HPT, weighs in around 80 lbs (double the GK). I know the MF stands says it's rated for up to 150 pounds, is that reliable? Or should I look for something heavier?

The rating is accurate. You should have no issues with the stand. I've put 212's on it with no problem.
