Double Bass amplify and monitoring

Hi,
i would welcome opinions on the following.
I am interested in the Box ma120 mk11 powered monitor.
I have a clip on mike on my DB which goes to the mixer. If this is then sent back to the line in on the monitor I can hear myself and the rest of the band.(okay pretty normal) however if The bass is still hard to hear thru the monitor, turning the line volume up also brings eveyone else up,so no solution.If i put another mike in front of the DB and run it to the mic. in on the monitor I can then just add a bit more bass only by turning up the mic vol. on the monitor. At least this way I can hear everything on stage, whereas it is difficult to be in charge of what is happening or alter how the sound comes out the main PA.

I write this because i have trouble hearing myself properly a lot of the time,and am taking responsibility for my own monitoring .

yes, What i wrote before got complicated.
using a line out would be much better. Maybe a gk backline combo would be a good buy.
Which do you think is better for DB, 1/4'' jack line out, or xlr out?

XLR out for a nice clean signal. Sometimes the 1/4" plugs pick up a little noise and most sound crews will have you plug a 1/4 into a DI box anyway. They prefer XLR, also refered to as Low-Z. I use a Peavey Combo 115 for my monitor and use the XLR out to send to the house PA. Never had any complaints about a dirty signal. However, I recently began playing through a mic with a monitor controlled by the house PA.

I have just purchased a Tapco THUMP th-15A POWERED MONITOR. Its 200 watt bi-amped xlr in and xlr out. I can use it as a wedge monitor or even for front of house! A 15'' speaker with a great eq controls. it fits the bill for the time being for what i'm doing
