Lot's of discussion on the 2ohm/4ohm thing. Most of the amps that I really like (Markbass, Thunderfunk, MPulse600, Walter Woods, etc.) do not allow for 2ohm operation. Other very nice heads (some of the Eden line, Genz Benz, etc.) do.

I've never had the need for 2ohm operation, but there's surely no negatives that I can see to have an amp that allows that level of operation.

I guess it comes down to planning (as I've posted before). If you know you will only use 1 cab, then get a 4ohm version and you can use literally whatever head you want (since they ALL operate safely at 4ohms). If you are going to need two cabs on occasion, then buy 8ohm cabs, especially if each cab is small and doesn't need a lot of power (i.e., two 210's or two 112's).

However, if you are going to use primarily one large cab, and on rare occasions might need another for very large gigs, then buying the cabs in 4ohm version (so that a single large cab allows high power operation from a SS head) makes sense, and would require a large, 2ohm safe head like the GB1200 or CarvinB1500, or a 'stereo' amp like the WT800 or Epi902 (each side running full power at 4ohms).

For your described playing context, a single large 4ohm cab (i.e., 212) or two 8ohm smaller cabs (two x 112) should be perfect, and will eliminate the 2ohm operation as a limitation IMO.
