Amps w/Power @8 Ohms?

Once you have adequate power (ie. loud enough without running out of amp power), additional headroom does nothing.

I worked several shows with the Count, small arena shows and for the last show he was unable to perform due to health issues so Cab Calloway filled in. The Count passed a short time after that and I went on to do more shows with Cab and his daughter (when she went out with him).

Cab was truly a great guy to work for, not only a legend. Note that this photo was from about 1987, almost 40 years ago.

OK Count Bassie. (Off topic, but I had the great pleasure of attending a show performed by the real Count Basie with his big band at the Antlers Hotel Ballroom in Milwaukee a long time ago).

My dad’s group was opening up for the Count Basie Big Band. At the last minute the Count was a no-show because of illness, and his fill in piano player was not there but on his way. So the band asked my dad who looked a little like the Count to just sit at the piano and occupy the space. They turned down the piano mics so no one would hear him if he noodled around to look like he was playing. What the sound engineer and the band manager didn't know was my dad knew all of the Count’s material. So they go into the first song and my dad was playing the Count’s figures and melodies, the band members shouted out “Turn him up! Turn him up!” 😊Which they did and he played, out loud until the replacement piano player showed up during the last set 👍

There was a mention of this in a book by Lynn Darroch called Rhythm in the Rain

But for a moment in the
1970s, when the Basie Band
invited him (Warren Bracken) to sit in after the leader had taken sick, it
felt like he had it all again.

“And it worked out nice
… oh, man,” he says, “oh
man.” Afterwards, people
came up, mistaking him
for the bandleader: “Oh,
Mr. Basie, we loved your
music,” they said.

Yeah, you already have a killer amp, and you said it sounds great thru the BE410. All, as noted, having to change up/ add a power section (be it power amp or new head) isn’t going to yield a great dB payoff. Plus, you already have an absolutely fantastic head. I would not change that.
Just add another cab when you want an extra 300W or whatever.
6 10’s is awesome, or an old school 410&15 kind of rig is thunderous.
For the money and the payoff, I’d certainly go the second cab route.

I'm interested in getting the most out of it, I've been running a Mesa Subway into it, a TT-800, which has a rating of 400w @8 ohms. Maybe it's just me working it up, but I figured I'd post here, where all the "gear-conscious" (overworking-it gear obsessed freaks, lol) people go to make sure they're on top of their gear game. 🙂

Go for the ultimate cabs for the tt800 you have, one at a time, interest free at zzsounds, stop when you have two to four Subway 115s. That rig will stun you.

Then you will be happy! : )

Or, take a chance on something else.

I think you've got a great head for that cab and am relatively confident that another head with 200 more Watts isn't going to get you anything noticeable other than a different voicing.

That said, the Berg Forte HP heads are rated ay 600 Watts at 8 Ohms IIRC...and you will have a different voicing for sure.

I sometimes will ask questions simply because I don't know the answer, and it seems to be relevant. I do like what the Mesa head does with this Bag End cab, and I think I actually have enough stuff. But still I ask, and around here I inevitably learn something. Worth doing.
