An odd parts build!

Sorry for the down time on this project guys
. car crash, school and work got in the way haha.
Well tuners are on and the bass is playable!!
She sounds pretty good through my guitar amp. We'll know for sure if it's worth refinishing and a proper neck shim next Monday when I have access to my bass amp!

That would be cool, but I don't really care for the MM sound (I used to love it, but I tried a few music mans and it didn't click). I'm going for a warm and thumpy tone with this project. So far it does that really well with the neck pickup soloed!

I'm probably just gonna fill the routing with whatever cheap wood I can find at home depot.
And I don't have a router, so routing for a MM pickup would take me forever since I would have to do it with chisels haha. Doing the neck pocket took me long enough

Well, it passed the sound and band test today! The neck pickup sounds great, but the bridge pup is really weird sounding. I think I'll swap it out for the split P pup that I have in the parts drawer.
And the pots are total crap. I think I'll just pull the middle pickup and wire it up with a 3 way switch and new pots. Stock neck single coil and split P in the usual spot. If I get inspired enough I think I'll plug all of the cavities and make it pickguard less. Or I'll just cut a new pickguard to accommodate the new controls and pup. Depends on the lazy/can't put this thing down factor.
Now what color should I paint it!? I'm thinking satin shell pink.... Any other suggestions?

Maybe not an MM, but using the trem cavity for another pup is a good idea. Or maybe try something creative with it - like a settable mute or something.
Hmmm maybe a J pup in that trem cavity, then. I have one of those laying around too. I'll have to get some pickguard material and think about what I can do with 3 pickups as far as switching. I think 3 mini toggles would be better than a 5 way switch (can get the 2 extra positions) then a volume and a tone.
So this'll end up being a S/P/J bass!
Gonna actually use it at a show tomorrow night as it is currently! Saturday I'll probably strip it if the weather is decent enough to sit outside while sanding. Then I'll fill that cavity in the back and figure out what to do with the J pup since the routing will most likely look like crap. (I'm doing all of the routing with a chisel btw) Maybe I'll have enough pickguard material left over to make a pickup ring.
