Sad story, knowing now that the guy is dead. Bad enough the guy was in a coma, but now that he's gone.... Either way, that guy must have swung a hell of a punch to land the guy in a coma and ultimately kill him.

What an unfortunate end though.. I always thought it was the drummer who snapped for no one helping load gear.

Drummers, IME, tend to be the snappy ones, but I've never been punched by a band mate.
This guy probably should have been a boxer instead of a musician.
Meh, punch is probably not what killed him, i will be willing to bet it has head hitting the ground and splitting.

Actually, it doesn't take nearly as much as you'd want to think to kill someone. Humans are pretty delicate machines when subjected to certain types of damage.
When I did my hand to hand training in the military, the first thing that the crusty old Chief Petty Officer teaching the class said was "It's a lot easier to kill someone than it is to just kick their a$$." We didn't really believe him, but we took it as a solid warning not to use any tricks he showed us in a regular fight.
Twenty three years* as a paramedic have shown me that he was scarily correct. I've seen people die from bizarrely minor things. Conversely I've seen people shrug off horrific things. I never have learned how to predict which person will respond which way.
But the short version is that it could have absolutely been just one punch and not even that strong of one. Hitting his head on the ground is another whole event and the two together could definitely have been more than he could overcome.
*edit: Actually it's twenty FOUR years. Crap, I'm old.
Bard2dbone is absolutely right here. One blow to the head can easily be fatal, even if there's no apparent sign of external damage.
Tragically, it now sounds like this bassist is going to have to live with the consequences of being too dumb to manage his own testosterone fuelled, ego driven, macho man lash out. Don't bend down to pick up the soap, dude.

this is truly tragic. it reminds me of this guy i knew in High School that was constantly getting concussions. one day he got hit in the head with a basket ball (missed rebound) and that was it. im pretty sure he lived though.
