I have been asked if that's a cello -and- more apprehensively "what do you call that instrument?". Sometimes I'll lift it up with my left hand and tell some unsuspecting person that this is what's called "choking the ostrich," just sayin'.

My snide answer is... if I brought my flute to the gig, I'd probably also have brought... piccolo, clarinet, bass clarinet,tenor, alto, bari saxes, stands for all. Much worse...
