Double Bass Angled End Pin Suggestions

View attachment 4958354 I GOT SOME STEEL RODS AT THE HARDWARE, AND BENT MY OWN. AFTER LOTS OF REBENDING (PROPANE TORCH AND GOOD VICE) I HAVE AN ENDPIN (TWO, ACTUALLY) THAT I LOVE. SO... IF I WEREN'T HAPPY WITH MY RESULT, AT LEAST I WOULD KNOW THAT THE ANGLED END PIN WAS NOT WORTH THE UPGRADE COST. AS IT IS, I LOVE BOTH, AND DON'T SEE THE NEED FOR A MORE "OFFICIAL" VERSION.
how do you prevent it from spinning?

The Ergopin relys on being fit very well to prevent rotation. The problem with it is not rotational migration, but instead that the screws don’t seem to hold the ball-end solid CF rod very well as is, at least not hand-tight. Easy solution is to drill an indent for the screw to grab the material better as is common with bent end pins, nbd, but it pays to also have an emergency rubber stopper installed on the bottom of the bass in case that rear angled endpin slips and starts digging into the body of the bass (ask me how I know…).

Short answer is that I don't know, but in the two weeks or so that I've had the Beginpin (in a 1/2" Cameleopard endpin socket) nothing has rotated. My problem is that, sitting on a low stool etc, I'm not sure the whole angled endpin thing is for me -- but this was a relatively inexpensive way to find out.
