Much appreciated, and just as a reminder, your album deep dives are the best that I've seen online, even without the smash cuts, juvenile humor, and digital video trickery.

You mentioned early Yellowjackets with Ricky Lawson...Robben Ford had an album pre-Yellowjackets (1979). I am sure you know it.
Opening track, kinda in a similar vibe to the earliest albums by the Yellowjackets & Lawson.
Truth be told, I noticed a shift in the Yellowjackets' "style" when William Kennedy came on.
Then another when Bob Mintzer replaced Marc Russo.

100% agree!! I remember discovering them around The Spin album (which leans a little towards smooth jazz) and then my mother gave me the Greenhouse CD when I was a senior in high school and it was like "OMG WHAT IS THIS MAGIC?!" I've always loved that group with that particular lineup. Russ+Bob+Jimmy+Will is gold. Greenhouse to Club Nocturne.

Live Wires is a great live album from them...in The Spin-era (IIRC).
I do recall seeing this concert...maybe on PBS in the day. I may even have a store-bought VHS of it stashed at mom's. Wouldn't mind seeing it again.

pdbass, thanks for the thoughtful breakdown of this fantastic album. I spent so much time with that album when it came out, usually replaying "Same Ole Love" in the cassette deck of my Datsun while my girlfriend and I sang along at the top of our lungs...maybe because the liner notes on the tape were so small, I'd forgotten it wasn't all Freddie Washington on that record. Great roster of players and you did them justice with this tribute.
