Today would have been my 50th anniversary with this beauty. Unfortunately, cancer took her in 2022. This was us in 1973...

EDIT: I didn't realize the picture would show up here on TB all grainy like this. I would have just deleted the post, but don't have that option. But trust me, she was a beauty! :D

No way buddy. Today is #28 for the wife and I.
50 years is amazing and a testament to the quality of man you are. I hope to continue following the fine example you set for husbands.
May peace be with you my friend. You have many fine memories, like this one you shared, to reflect on.

What a kind thing to say, Mike. Thank you. But I certainly have/had my flaws.

I think the best thing we did to make our marriage last was that we tried to never be cruel to each other. No matter how upset we'd get with each other, neither of us ever called each other hurtful names or anything that would be hard to forget. We'd be angry about a situation, but try to never say things that would be painful. She probably DID call me that word for a certain bodily orifice on occasion, but it was usually deserved and usually in jest... :D:D:D
So sorry Jeff... best wishes...
Thanks!
Believe me...her beauty shines through the "grainy".

So sorry for your loss, but thank you for sharing the memory.
Thanks so much! Eloquently stated...

She was beautiful, and I’m sure a beautiful person. Sounds like a storybook romance.
My wife and I celebrated 40 years last fall. Every day is a gift.
Congrats, Ostie! Funny story about the day my wife and I met. It was at a college in Pennsylvania.

I was sitting in the student center with two friends, both named Kathy. Unbeknownst to me, they had another friend that I had never seen or met. Apparently they had been telling this other girl (Patty), "You have to meet this guy!!!" (But they had never mentioned her to me.)

So one day Patty walks up to the table where I was sitting with the two Kathii. :D The "thunderbolt" struck and we were both smitten. I found out later that Patty went home and started dancing around the kitchen with her mother, saying, "Mama, I met a guy, and I'm gonna' marry him!" Her mom told her, "Don't talk so dumb!", but Patty was right. And it wasn't like we were kids. We were both in our mid-twenties when we met.

Oh yeah, your "storybook romance" comment reminded me of something else. From the time we met until the day she passed away, she always referred to me as her Prince Charming. One day we were talking to a couple at church and she made that Prince Charming comment. Somewhat embarrassedly, I looked at them and said, "Looks like Prince Charming has put on some weight..." :D
