Annoying midrange ringing sound in new Schecter Stiletto Extreme. Help?

After years of using an old Dean I bought from somebody really cheap, I bought a brand new Schecter Stiletto Extreme. After some days of using it, however, I have noticed an odd ringing sound that gets worse when i boost the midrange (and dissapears if i cut it).

Some people say they don't hear it, but I do, and it's really annoying me. My old cheapo Dean doesn't seem to have it, and I just can't believe a 400 dollar bass that gets rave reviews everywhere is supposed to have this kind of sound.

I don't know what it is. I don't know if the bass is supposed to sound like this, or if maybe I'm just boosting the midrange too much, or if maybe the stock pickups are crap and I need to change them. I don't know if maybe the bass needs some adjusting, or if maybe it's damaged and i need to use my guarantee (since i bought it in another city, I'll need to travel, so I don't know if it's worth it to take it there). Could somebody please tell me what could this be? I could record it and upload it...

It could be a bunch of things... Pickup location might have to do with it, certain overtones being overemphasized when you boost the mids. It could also be the strings. It could be several things at once combining to give you that symptom. Maybe try flatwound strings?

And somebody also suggested me to use the flatwounds, but i don't like their sound... it lacks brightness.

I think you'll need to post some clips.
Meanwhile, see if it does it with both pickups or only one and not the other. It could be a defective pickup. Sometimes they feed back, which may be the case here.

Besides the annoying buzz, how do you find the sound from the pickups to be? I was looking also at the Schecter Stiletto Extreme, but then read in this test:

that the two pickups sound too similar...anybody find the same thing?

There may be some micro switches in the control area for recentering eq's. resetting the mid may help.

Yeah it's probably just something to do with the voicing of your pickups or amp, you might be fortunate and it could be the way your strings sound, or it could be an irritating combination of those 3.

With the old pickups/electronics on my ATK Ernies had a really awful midrange ring which is probably akin to the one your geting, after finding some different strings that I liked the sound disappeared so I'd recommend trying that.
