I was after the same tone. Found it in a Road Worn P Bass with flats. I absolutely love how this bass plays and sounds. Sometimes you can find these on the cheap used.

I not exactly hard to please, but even plagued with perpetual GAS, I’m actually happy with my basses and cabs.

I wouldn’t mind a killer head at some point, but it’s not a concern for now—I’m satisfied with what I have.

This has been my setup for quite some time now.
I guess my rig-GAS is under control with this.

In the amp-section of GAS list there is a fEARful cab and an ampeg SVT with matching 8x10.
I'm so happy with my sound that i can't bring myself to start on a fEARful and
the ampeg stuff is too expensive since i don't own a car the cab will fit in and would have to buy this too.
And before i spend that kind of cash on an amp, i will buy a Dingwall 6 string.

Yes I am happy with my rig. I have sold everything else that I don't use. I keep buying stuff then trading or selling it because I like what I have been using better.

I absolutely love my rig but it has taken me years and countless dollars to get here. My band uses in-ear monitors so I don't need or want a lot of stage volume. I use a 1993 Ampeg V4b Head, speaker output goes to a Palmer speaker simulator, and from there to a speaker cabinet. The send to the console comes from the Palmer. Without the moving speakers the Palmer is a little bit of a let down, but with them it's amazing. I can also get slight tube breakup from both preamp and pwer sections in the signal because the head is only 100W and is not loud. Without in-ears this head would not keep up with a drummer. The sound in the PA is to die for.

Definitely. My amp and cab were very lucky first choice matches for me. The head was thanks to TB itself, and the love and plethora of info on GK. The cabs I got just because they were cheap and from a name I already had a bit of experience with. and they go rather nicely with the GK in the end.

I don't think I'll ever -need- another amp. Though I'd always love to have something more lightweight as a backup. Even if I may never have to use it.

I think if ever I were to grab another full size monster, I'd go for the 700RB-II, rather than the 1001RB-II. Probably try out some different cabs, too.

But getting better basses is on my priority list. I play really cheap Chinese things. They do the job, and I am slowly upgrading hardware. But it would be great to have something like a Warwick, or even a Jerzy Drozd. Something good from the start.
