Another amp quest (replacement for Eden WT550)

Yep, that's what most reviews say, it's just that I have to buy without testing so I'm trying to make sure it's exactly what I want... thanks.

I'd consider the B800 too.

Weeell, that would not save me big bucks, and would keep me in the same wattage as the Eden... whereas with the B1500 I know I'll have as much power as I may ever need.

Go with the Eden 405.
It has a warm tone and is 'faster' then the 550. Can run in same config that your running the 550 in too...

I own both the Eden 550 and 330 (same as 405, lower power spec) and its exactly what your describing. All SS, but warm and not sterile. Faster or 'quicker' then the 550. Perhaps not as 'round' for 'fat' as the 550, but if that's what your trying to get away from, that's your head man.

The 405 is my favorite Eden amp for these exact reasons. I've tried their tube-pre heads and as great as they are, I just like the 405 much better, and it's a free bonus the EQ is much simpler, AND you get the adjustable compressor (which I LOVE).

I just wish they'd make a TT-750!

I was hoping the 1205 would be this, but it wasn't. It was more like a 550 tone-wise... great, but not quite there for me.

12bass - I know, but IIRC Dave had recently written that he's done some testing with a lower load and it seemed to work fine, although it won't give more watts... I've emailed him to see if there is anything new and more "official" on that subject.

Just got a reply from Dave, basically saying no and that a 2ohm safe amp would be very weak at 8ohm. Anyway, I've already ordered a Glockenklang, but I'm still keeping Thunderfunk high in my list if I want a lighter head - I also plan to change my cab setup sooner than that, so I won't need a 2.7ohm safe amp by then.

I have always been a fan of Ampeg and have been determined to own an svt of some calibre when my skill level and wallet permit. But I heard an eden rig last weekend and thought it sounded . Couldn't get close or ask, so no info about the setup, but
to my somewhat ameteur ear it seemed to produce great midtones, or ..get out front nicely, without losing the bottom end or honking too obnoxiously if that makes any sense.
What does "clipping " mean?
