another budget compressor thread....

as if there are not enough of these threads, here's another

i'm on the lookout for some budget compressors and have narrowed down to these few but pls add on if you know of somemore

1. kokko
2. mooer yellow
3. biyang co-8 or co-10
4. TC electronics forcefield

which is the best among them?

I have the Flamma Analog Comp, which is supposedly the same as Mooer Yellow. It has its sound, rolls off low end, enhances attack. I kinda like it, but I don't use it anymore due to low end loss. If you were to use it always-on, then no problem, as you can just compensate for low end loss on your amp.

Biyang and TC seem to be dynacomp/ross clones (that's just my guess). I have tried a Ross compressor and did not like it on bass.

As far as cheap comps go, Nux Sculpture exists and has a blend knob, might be interesting.

Looking up the nux pedal, thanks

Here's an alternative:
1. Purchase the Doc Lloyd DLA-2A.
2. Purchase a Brimarized Effectrode LA-1A
3. Purchase a big box Origin Effects Cali76 with Lundahl Transformer.
4. Play around with them for a bit until you get used to them.
5. Sell them all again.
6. Your bar has been raised and after having these and now you consider the Cali76 compact, the Empress, MXR M87, the Keeley Bassist and all the other Talkbass favorites as budget pedals.

But, to be serious for a second here: What do you want from the comp? Just a bit of thickening, serious peak limiting or something else entirely?

Caline CP-10 Hot Mushroom… $30 or less. Silly name, but it’s a Dyna Comp clone. Like a Dyna Comp, it cuts some bass unless you mod the output capacitor. I did on the Caline, and it sounds good. It’s currently the first second pedal on my board (after tuner/mute).
