Another buught an SX thread

What a nice mob you got!
That SX looks nice!

Thanks........the stock SX stuff works OK but I bought it to tinker with so I had fun doing the mods. The biggest surprise was how well the neck was under all the orangeish finish. Also you may have noticed I once had a black headstock but decided to go back natural. Its been awhile since Ive owned a MIA Fender P so I cant recall how the size of the neck compares. May be some fellow TBers can help.

thick = stronger or not?

Not just with SX, but thicker necks generally are stronger and less prone to need adjustments.

And FWIW, the stock neck that was on my SX P bass was probably the most comfprtable P neck I ever tried! It was so comfy, I almost kept it on the bass. But alas, I had this extra Jazz neck lying about, and it had a rosewood fingerboard rather than the plain maple that was on the bass, so I swapped em!

WOW!

Pros:

Body:
5 piece, nice finish, good looking pickguard, chrome knobs.
for $120 I am more than pleased.

Neck:
straight, smooth, no bumps. Only a small ups! on the paint. Great feeling tuners. All frets are in excellent condition!

Excellent package btw.

Con:
My Frankenbass has more punch and low end growl, like an angry lion. Maybe due a potted pups, Badass II, SS Flats. The SX is more smooth and balanced. The P pup is...well like a P bass pup. The J pup is kind of cool, but hums like hell.....any suggestion!

I got a keeper.:hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper::hyper:

Rondo SX rules.

My two animals!

I find it really fascinating how people talk about multiple things being wrong with their SX and yet they think they're great.

well I just said that IMO the pups has lower output. I like the feel of the neck and the sound of the SX. Don't get me wrong. I was really sleepy tonight. Both basses sound different but I like both!

Soon I will put SS flats on the SX just like the other bass just to try.

Um, Ironrat? You think this might make a slight difference in the monster tone on your FrankenP bass? :D

sry I was sleepy tonight and the power went down.....d@mn rain!
and I haven't played enough with the VVT.

I just know that my Frankie send more power to the amp then the SX, but the SX sounds more smooth (same settings on the amp).

I will play both tonight to do a better comparison. And a friend of mine will bring his MIM Fender Jazz 5str to set the action so......keep tuned!

I wasn't trying to single you out at all. I've just seen this multiple times and I was commenting on it. I thought it was interesting, that's all. :)
