Another Diamond in the Rough

Stole this from my local shop yesterday for $85. Was there looking at MIM Fender J basses and this sounded better than all of them. I'm thinking the previous owner probably got, what, 40 bucks for it?

Bad for him. Good for me.

I know it's nothing special to look at, but it's fun to share :bassist:

General condition & the tuners say no earlier than mid-80s to me, although you undoubtedly have seen more basses than me, Fred...
:D

The only reason why I said that was because the real old MIJ "clones" before they got REAL good at cloning had headstocks just like this one. Aside from that, who knows what it is. Another thing to look at is the neck plate. The older MIJ version had smaller neck plates than Fender. Lot of ply bodies back then too (look for that as well).
