Another Fender price increase?

I just noticed the USA Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass is now $2049?!?!
When did this happen?

That’s quite a jump from last summer 2020 when I got mine new from Sweetwater for $1400.

Yikes! You'd think, after a year of record sales and profits, at a time of crushing financial insecurity for a lot of folks, that maybe they *wouldn't* do this kind of thing. But then, I have no doubt they'll keep selling well, so I guess we gotta learn to love what we've already got.

In your case, I think you'll just about make it; we've seen some mighty fine looking basses in your arsenal :bassist:

Thank you, FMIC...for this, the closest I'll ever get to a Fender bass.

Seriously though, ask anyone who's planning on buying a new Geddy Lee Jazz bass and they'll tell you it's worth $2,049 and more!
(They are including a copy of Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass and a set of pens, right?)

You're surprised? Have you been to the grocery store lately?

Inflation. Simple economics. And in order to maintain their preferred profit margins, companies raise their prices. It sucks, but it's reality.

Yep. A year or so ago I was thinking about buying a new truck. No way now...I'll drive mine into the ground before I sign over $49,999 for a new one.

My income is way down from where it was pre-Covid, and with prices soaring on everything from food to gas to utilities, I'm not spending on anything "extra" for the foreseeable future.

I've assumed it is some supply and demand while some of the price increases are due to supply chain increases.

Then take the used market in to account to, but that is a chicken or the egg kind of thing. Are the high prices on the used market reflective of the prices of buying new, or is it the other way around?

Same price as the American Original '60s Jazz; $2,049.

What I think is remarkable is the AO '70s Jazz is now listed for $2,299 or $250 more then the '60s. That makes me suspect the '60s Jazz price will go up soon, too. Fender isn't doing an across the board increase at once, they're doing the increases in stages, for whatever reason.

Global supply chains are in massive disarray now for a variety of reasons and I suspect Fender may also be challenged in maintaining the staffing levels they want or need.
