Double Bass Another Full Circle question

I think a lot of this depends on the instrument. I just played a very nice bass with a full circle installed (through a great system), the sound seemed compressed and rather choked. On the other hand, my bass works great with an underwood; I have tried K&K, Realist, Fishman, and Upton Soloist....somehow the Underwood stays on the bass.
As I've stated before, the FC is INCREDIBLY sensitive to setup. I will sound compressed if it is not against a perfectly sanded surface. It will sound like crap if the bridge is tilted too far forward or backward. And, it will sound like crap if it is not rotated to its "sweet" spot. Actually, that's my biggest criticism of the FC in that on one of my basses it sounds waaaayyyy better in only one rotated position. Which means that I can only have my action a full turn up or down from that position. No half or quarter turns. Now with this bass I haven't messed with it enough, though. If the pressure is consistant and the fit is perfect there are 2 positions where it works---cable to the front or cable to the back.
The Yamahiko has a wider frequency bandwidth than the FC. Like what i've mentioned before, it has more clarity and definition because of the higher bandwidth. It doesn't sound choked in some cases of the FC.
Balance between bowing and pizz is also better and i don't have to adjust volume between either anymore.
One thing that amaze me is the resonance that the pickup picks up. It responds like what a microphone would in terms of the tail end of each note. I'm not sure what they put inside the pickup tho.
The one last thing that really prove it's value at $350 is the construction.
Top quality japanese machining and they use a connector call the microdot used in test equipment with a frequency bandwidth higher than what our ears hears. It is almost indestructable as well.
The screw thread that is on the Yama is also bigger than usual American size threads, which means you have to make a bigger hole if you install it. Being bigger, i also felt there is an acoustic sound difference. It's not as choked as the usual adjusters.
Frankly, I'm not a big fan of the clips that's on the site itself as they sound bright and twangy. In comparison to the FC, i can get my sound easily with any kind of amp offered to me during gigs.
I think one of the main reasons why not so many dealers stock them is because of the higher price and the lower profit margin that the maker offer. Anyways, they are great pickups used for piano as well and i still carry them to satisfy my customers.

I looked at the Yamihiko site and it appears that they market a metric thread only. If you are starting with an uncut bridge that's OK but if you are retro fitting to a bridge with a 1/4" thread adjuster no can do.

yea I was real curious about these a few years ago....would love to hear one or have some more reviews here. its hard to buy a pick up like this on spec and then have to devote a bridge to it and all the money that goes with that. had that problem with the Barbera.

My Full circle has developed a faulty connection
at the RCA plug. Is it possible to open the plug or is it a sealed unit. Forgive me derailing the thread. I didn't think it appropriate to start a new one.
Any help\ advice would be gratefully received.
