I got this back from my luthier yesterday and could not be more pleased. It turned out exactly how I designed it in my (very weird) head.

Specs:

Body: 2021 Fender Player Jazz (buttercream, tasteful light relic by a previous owner)
Neck: Recent model Fender Aerodyne P (factory second from Mighty Mite, was originally for a sunburst model which had a black headstock that matched nicely for this project)
Hardware: Hipshot Ultra Lite tuners and unknown high mass bridge
Pickups: DiMarzio Model J (hum-cancelling) with cream covers
Pickguard: ThreeStools black cat design in matte finish
Strings: LaBella Super Polished IMA
Controls: Standard VVT
Case: Generic ChromaCast

OK, not only should you run with this idea and start selling the pickguards (I would totally rock one) but my wife said you deserve to get laid for that. Well done!

Bonus points if you swap positions of the Neck Volume and Input Jack

That is soooo cool! What was the inspiration? Did you come home to find your cat curled up on your bass?

You might want to get clarification on that. ;)
I mean, my cats are always trying to get involved in my bass gear lol.
No real inspiration other than that when ThreeStools started showing up in my friends' Instagram algorithms, everyone kept sending me links to her stuff. Because I'm a bass guy and a cat guy, so everyone thought I wanted a cat pickguard. I *didn't* really want a cat pickguard for any of my existing basses, so when one appeared locally, I bought it and then designed the bass *around* it :D :D
