Is this a 'real' Fender, as the seller claims?

I've never seen this configuration of pups (P/J) with only two knobs on any Fender, plus the location of the knobs isn't standard Fender-like either. Nor have I ever seen the words 'Precision Bass' written in that font on the headstock.

Just wondering if this a model I've never seen before...

According to the pics (and the write up), it has concentric knobs for vol, blend, bass and treb tone.

It's "real", they made a jazz bass with Lace sensor active pups, smaller headstock, weird font, and smaller tuning pegs as well.

It appears to be an early '90s Fender Precision Plus (as their ad states). Not sure what the "Deluxe" identifies, but it looks legit to me.

The model you're asking about is a slight variation from the Precision Lyte.
I remember them being around at the same time and would say it's def genuine.
I opted for the P Lyte as it offered a bit more for my needs.

It's correct.

A bit pricey for that model IMO, but there aren't a ton of them around these days.

Found it in the cowpoke thread. Ad looks totally legit to me (I mean who would go through the trouble of forging an obscure bass). Too pricey as others have said.

Great answers, and thanks to all for setting the record straight.

I've only been in the bass community for about 3 yrs now, but I spend a lot of that time drooling over different basses, and had never seen one of these.

I think it's real. I had one of these from '93. It's an American Precision Deluxe Plus. Excellent bass. Here it is.

I sold mine to a friend for $500. I think I paid About $850 for it new. I had to replace the neck because the original was twisted like a möbius strip. I doubt that was a common problem.
