Another set of Cobalt Flats, and...

No problems.

I have read about stickiness and broken strings, but this is my ~9th set of Cobalts installed with no hassles like I have repeatedly read. I can gliss up and down the neck with no sticky feeling. Never had a breakage no matter how much Louis Johnson style aggressive slapping I inflict when I get ready to do that. It's great fun to use exaggerated movements.

I didn't even want to do it because the Cobalts sound so great broken in. However, I have been playing more slap lately, and these 95s are great for that.

The pics are my Craft Series (hand made in Japan) passive Bacchus with S-1 switch (love that option) that I prefer the Cobalt lights (95-40) on.

Anyway, I have lived these strings for years and have never had a problem, which includes today when I posted after not having any problems with the earlier install.

Just teasing you... I would never post pics of my beloved basses in such disarray; I would at least dress them up nicely with new strings all in place and ready. But that's just me...

The 95-40 sets are awesome. I use them on a couple basses. By far my favorite strings. Lucky me, Ive yet to have any issues with them.

I had some discoloration on a few strings, but nothing I could feel or hear.

Could you feel the rust?

I walked into my music room to have a play and I could smell something rusty and metallic, the strings left brown streaks on my fingers.

They do sound great, I'm not knocking them, just went rusty after a few months.

The 19 months old 2814 set on my jazz bass has no such rusty-metallic smell, just notice discoloration on some string area which i rarely pluck or fretted.

My favorite is that 95 gauge set too. Too bad they dont make a .120 or .125 B. I have the .130 B on my fiver right now and I wish it was jus a bit lighter.

Mine also rust unless I wipe them down after every gig/session. They are my favorite sounding/feeling strings though.
