Hello folks i have a question on the stingray 2 band eq versus the 3 band eq.. Is there a quite a bit of difference in tone between the 2 and 3 band eq stingrays? Ive seen a few new 2 bands for sale over the net, and was wondering if there was realy a significant difference. I am starting an all ac/dc cover band and i want to get as close to cliff williams tone as possible but the last stingray i had seemed to sound to tinny compared to cliffs. I am only playing through a peavey markVIII though through a hartke 215 cab. give me your thoughts on the differences in tone.

another stingray question

I was in, and continue to sub for, an AC/DC tribute band (Powerage in SF Bay). Anyway, I play my '87 3 band Ray with a rosewood board in that band. I use a pick, round wounds and boost the bass and mids. Never have a problem sounding tinny.
If you want to really try to capture the Cliff vibe, you need a '76 'Ray with a maple board, flat wounds and an SVT. And you also need to play with a pick.

Well to me there's a huge difference, the two preamps are voiced very different...the 3eq is voiced with alot of high mids, and the 2eq is voiced with more low mids.
The 2eq Musicman is all that does it for me, and all I have left in the fleet.
