Another strap question

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this or not with the same or similar straps... I have a 3 inch souilder strap, and it's a great strap - however, I noticed while playing the strap slowly gets longer. The sdes of the strap are a seat belt like material and it seems as if it does not provide enough grip for the strap to stay in place. It will get as much as 2 inches longer over the course of a gig.

It gets really annoying after a while!

A Souilder strap.

You could always set the strap to the correct length and make a couple of stitches by hand through it to hold it in place.

Definitely had this happen on occasion. Had a D'addario padded bass strap that did it. Replacing it with a newer one fixed it. So did replacing it with a strap that adjusts with a tail weaved into the body of the strap

Switch to neoprene or leather.

I've been looking over the gruv gear site, and the talkbass shop for some ideas and plan on making a new purchase soon. I do think it comes down to the material.

The cheap fix is to tie a knot in it. It won't slide through the adjuster that way.

Interesting to hear this. I was debating purchasing a strap from them but cooled on the idea after the tone of their email reply turned me off. This slippage issue has solidified my decision!

On the ones I’ve been making recently I’ve switched to a buckle adjustment which seems to be my favorite design so far. Depending on the materials the stretch should be very minimal over time as well.
