Another "Well, that's a first..."-moment!

Yes mix wise push her vocals out there!! Great job on bass! Maybe turn down the guitar a bit..
I was gonna hold off on mix criticism b/c I assume the mixing part is long past, but yeah, I would enjoy less guitar and more bass, personally. Especially with your playing, OP. It's killer.

It was interesting that as you both climbed the neck in the run/figure that repeats a few times towards the end of the tune your bass came forward and his guitar receded in the mix - so may instead of lowering the guitar overall in the mix he just needs to back off on his bass EQ? I know the strat guys like to pump some lowend to keep it "heavy"... Dunno, it's really great as it is. Mix suggestions are just minor things. Everyone has an opinion on how they might mix something differently.

Yeah, I think we can work on this even further in the future to really make sure that the instruments "Pop" when they need to :) I appreciate the thoughts and feedback - that's how you grow as a musician! :)

We did an 11 song all original CD last fall and recorded everything live- bass, drums, electric, acoustic, and keys. We even played our solos live. Most of the songs had vocals re-recorded over the scratch tracks but on two we kept the scratch vocals. One of those two was a first take - only take. The engineer was totally stoked- he said that’s how they used to do it in the old days!It should be mastered soon and we release Sept 9. I’ll be posting tracks here, but we really should do a video or two. Much more engaging than just a soundcloud link.

Make sure to send me a link!

Yeah, a video sure is much more engaging for the audience than just an audio link. Doesn't takt TOO much to do a good looking video these days either! Let me know how it works out! :)

I’m sold on recording live now. We did isolate our amps and used headphones, so we had the ability to do punches, but only did a few here and there. But it is so much more how we’re used to playing than tracking to a click, it paid off for us.

You and me both! I love it! It puts pressure on your playing - but the end result is so much sweeter imho! :)

OP: sounds great. Love the bass line and tone, sound reminds me of old school stuff like Triumph. Singers like that are hard to find, you guys don't do nothin' stupid and make her quit! lol

We did pretty much the same thing, in Richmond.

Thanks man! I promise - Sara’s one of the best voices I’ve ever worked with! Great friend and a real pro both live and in the studio - plus, us guys are pretty well mannered. Our moms made sure of that. :D

That was great! All parties were awesome, lyrics were really good and were definitely funny. Now everytime I hear Pantera’s Walk and hear “walk on home boy” I’m gonna think about this song and your singer kicking her boyfriend to the curb and him spending his night with his hand, hahaha a whole new meaning to the phrase! Very, very, well done!
