Another Wii Thread...

This reminds me of people who don't wear seat belts in cars. It's a strap, it holds you in your seat so that you don't fly through the wind shield and die. The strap on the Wiimote is a strap that keeps the controller from flying across the room and breaking your TV. I don't feel sorry for the people who break stuff because it's "uncool" to use the strap.

This is the thing though, I really don't feel the strap is to keep the controller from flying across the room. People who think that way are the ones who to me end up having the controller fly away.

I think the strap is just a preventative in case you do happen to let go. Honestly, just hold on to the friggin' controller, I don't see the problem. :eyebrow:

I know, I'm not saying to have 100% faith in the strap, just wear it in case your hand DOES slip and you're not just being an idiot and swinging your hand around while holding on loosely.

And I'd say the strap is probably there so people can't sue Nintendo because they decided to go crazy with their controller and have it fly through their TV. Nintendo can just say "that's why there's a strap" and they'd be safe. :D

Indeed, I've probably played Wii Sports with a couple of friends now for well over 10 hours cumulative. The tennis games got pretty intense but never once did anyone complain about the remote potentially falling out of their hand. Then again, they used the strap and maintained a pretty decent grip without flailing around in a wiitarded fashion.

I guess some people have yet to realize that exaggerated motions are not necessary. Ah well, when they break their stuff we can laugh at them I guess.

Edit: RTFW FTW [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Is it possible to play the Wii without waving your arms around? I need to sit quite close to the TV to see it, so having to move my arms around would not be feasible at all.

Yes, from what I've heard the only thing small motions does differently is not make you look like an idiot and it makes it a lot more difficult to let the controller go flying through the air.

But what's the fun in that? :smug:

I'll admit, I've been guilty of... well... getting "into it." I think it's hilarious that people are breaking the straps though. There's no reason they should break. If you're sweating from playing Wii... stop. Go workout.

Or dry your hands.

yeah, this entry in wiihaveaproblem is my brother: http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/show_article.php?id=4

he's not stupid or anything, just really injury-prone. during his senior year of high school, for instance, he broke his thumb twice in the same season!

the wii have a problem blog didn't ask permission or anything for those pictures. they probably saw it on my friend's thread about the incident on www.cheapassgamer.com and then made up some lame story to make it seem like we sent the pictures to them.

(i wasn't there when it happened; i was on the other coast of florida at the time.)

some of the people who were there emailed wii have a problem to change the story to link to the threads (and ytmnd!) they created about it, but they've heard nothing from them!

but at least because of wii have a problem, one of the pictures made it onto an episode of vh1's best week ever.

(oh, and he wasn't playing wii: bowling. it was wii: tennis. and after bandaging up, he and his partner won. lol.)
