Double Bass ANS Double bass studio pickup

My full circle finally crapped the bed, and after hearing many of my overseas friends rave about these, I decided to invest in one. Just shipped and will hopefully go to my luthier next week to install! Looking forward to hearing this pickup on my instrument for ages!

The ANS double bass pickup is better know as Bass Balsereit pickup. Price of cheapest passive version starts at € 239.- and goes up as high as € 679.-. For installation on bass a conical hole is needed, the pickup is supposed to change sound depending on pressure and orientation. Check information on web page of Jonas Lohse, germany: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], not sure if internatinal delivery is possible.

It's always reminded me of the Wilson K1 pickup which is mounted differently and is a piezo.

The Wilson is more expensive but smaller.

Been using one for over 10 years now. Been very happy with it. I have tried other pickups along the way just to try. Still happily using the BassBalsereit Studio. For me it works best through a PA or high quality monitor rather than bass guitar centric systems.

I also picked up the passive one recently for convenience. Needs a little EQ cut around 150hz (similar issue as microphones) but pretty good as well.
