Any AC/DC fans here on TB?

Hey Trapeze Fan, I just arrived from the show and it was FANTASTIC! Rock 'n Roll as it is meant to be :bassist:
The show was like you described. Starting with an intro and "Rock 'n Roll Train". Actually, the entire show was more or less a "best of". They played (in random order) TNT, Whole Lotta Rosie, Let There Be Rock, Thunder Struck, Highway To Hell, Hell's Bells, Black Ice, Dirty Deeds, etc... They also played my favorite AC/DC song, "The Jack". The encore was "For Those About To Rock". The crowd was fantastic.
The bassplayer used a MusicMan and 2 Ampeg fridges. Couldn't see the heads, but I think it were a couple of SVT's (not sure about that). The music was indeed really loud. I tried pluggin' in some earplugs but I took 'm back out after one song. It just isn't the same with plugs :rollno: Of course, now I'm deaf, but hey, I've seen AC/DC live ... that has to count for something :D
BTW, the support act wasn't bad either. It was an Irish band called "The Answer". They did a great job warming up the crowd for AC/DC. Anyway, I'm going to bed now.
For those about to rock ... I salute you :bassist:
And if you ever get the chance to see AC/DC live ... DO IT :bawl:

The Answer backed them here in San Antonio. Billed as a cross between the Black Crowes and Led Zeppelin. Alot of hype. They were mediocre at best and I do not predict great things for them. Will most likely disappear into the mist like Mister North did off the '05 Van Halen tour. Mister North is a helluva band but just can't seem to get out of the Northeast due to bad management. The Answer is just mediocre. Glad you enjoyed the show. Same songs as here. Seems they've worked out a set list that they stick to. Cliff was playing a Fender PBass here, as you can tell from the pics. He was using Ampeg heads and Ampeg cabs, again, as you can tell from my pics. Glad you enjoyed the show. He prefers MM basses in the studio in recent years. There are interviews w/Angus' guitar tech and he talks about Cliff's rig as well. He confirms what you saw. MM basses in the studio. MM basses on stage. Have no idea why he was playing the same PBass all night here in San Antonio.

Yeah, if you compare them (or any new band) to Led Zeppelin or The Black Crowes they are of course mediocre at best. For me it was good enough to get in the mood for AC/DC. I agree that they will most likely disappear into the mist, like so many bands do. Talking about Led Zeppelin ... I would love to see a reunion tour from them :D:D:D

Going to see them in Oklahoma City in six weeks, for one reason or another I've never been to one of their concerts, been waiting 30 years for this. Yes, greatest rock n roll band of all time.

I'm 45 and never been in a band, been dinking around the last 15 years here and there trying to write music, dont know a single cover note. I'm not good with the guitar(can come up with stuff, suck playing it, weird), just bought a used bass (and like it!!) and now looking to form a AC/DC tribute band for fun. I must be in a band before I die...

Tough for a band when a lead singer dies...

Brian added a certain different bad boy quality to the band......but the part I still love about the Bon Scott tracks is that he adds a feeling of "coming unhinged" to the music....like he's on the verge of going nuts! I just love that vibe and I play his tracks when I'm down and ready to come back up. (after I've played The End and When The Music's Over by the Doors):hyper:

Now we have to rely on Angus for that feeling thru the guitar....

How'd you like to play like Angus when youre his age?!

Not so much, he's a machine isnt he?

To me Bon and Brian are equally great, its a shame though the world never heard Bon doing the Back in Black album.

Yep when I'm down and ready to come back up, crank up the AC/DC, its worked for 30 years. I'll never forget the first time I heard AC/DC, it changed my life.

That and they had a whole other bunch of songs they wrote with Bon and scrapped when he died.

They're both great, but I like them for different reasons. Bon was always more out of control and too far over the edge sometimes, which made him great but it killed him. Brian was a paratrooper and had more of a sense of discipline about himself, but he's still just as crazy as any of them, just in a more mature way. Kind of like the difference between Beavis and Butt-head by themselves and Beavis and Butt-head after 4 years in the army ;)

Come on guys. Heaven forbid that anybody should die before their time but lots of people do die prematurely. Even people who have been bereaved and lost a wife/partner/lover have usually finished up their grieving, moved on and re-married or whatever after 32 years' so I don't understand why it is so difficult for people who never knew Bon Scott personally to honour his memory but accept that life moves on.

Like it or not but in a couple of years Brian Johnson will have been in the band twice as long as Bon (and let's not forget it was Bon's parents that urged the band to carry on and replace him)

I've never been a rabid fan myself but playing in a band that does a few AC/DC covers (and indeed open our set with Live Wire followed by Touch Too Much) I've got a whole lot more respect for them.

Simple? Yes. Predictable? Yes. But it really rocks!
